Meat pies have existed in Britain since at least the 1200s. Originally, pastry was partly a practical way to contain and cook meat. Over time, pies became one of the great staples of British home cooking and bakeries.

Our version

The Gay Baker Chicken Pie uses chicken, butter, herbs and vegetables beneath a golden, crisp pastry crust. The whole pie is designed for sharing, not for turning a familiar classic into something unnecessarily complicated.

A classic that does not need a disguise

Some traditions already do enough work. Here we would rather concentrate on good pastry, a properly seasoned filling and a pie that arrives at the table the way it should.
