Banoffee Pie was created at The Hungry Monk in East Sussex, England, in 1971. Its name more or less explains the recipe: banana + toffee = banoffee.

Why it works

Banana and caramel are a rich, direct combination. The job is to control the sweetness and keep enough contrast that each part still tastes like itself.
